Alpinia, were among the earliest Zingiberales introduced to the ornamental ginger trade. Commonly used ‘Red Ginger’ and ‘Pink Ginger’ are firmly entrenched in the trade. New interesting hybrids and species are now adding to that popularity. Alpinia purpurata crosses and even more exotic offerings are now available.
