Costus sp. ‘Red Feathers’

  • ‘Crimson Feathers’ or 'Red Feathers' is tall and ‘feathery’; this one is still quite rare.


    Found in southern Peru. Collected, named, and introduced by Mark Collins of Plant Group Hawaii.  Stems are green and pubescent. Lingules are slightly swollen. Leaves are narrowly elliptic; upper surface is glabrous and underside is pubescent. Inflorecence are terminal and subclylindrical. Base of bracts are tight while tips are feathery and flare out. Bracts are charteous with a green stripe along bract centerline. Flower is pink to red.

    Growth: Clumping
